Cruising Cats and Dogs

Are you stuck in a rut. Do you want to go on holiday but, can't bring yourself to leave your precious pet at home.  Well  believe it or not on board Cunard's Queen Mary 2 you can bring them with you, as long as they are of the canine or feline variety.

You can't actually have Spot or Moggy in the cabin with you, but you can rent a kennel on board at a rate of $300 for a small upper kennel or $500 for a large lower kennel. If you have a large dog Two kennels can also be rented ( top and bottom) and be opened up to form a larger kennel though guests will be charged for the two kennels. Your choice of destinations are limited, as this service is only available on transatlantic crossings, and you do need to follow certain procedures in order to brings your furry friends on board. If travelling from New York to Southampton: all pets must be fitted with a microchip, vaccinated against rabies, satisfactorily blood tested to ensure sufficient protection against rabies (the date the blood test is taken will be entered on the PETS passport and six months must have passed from this date before entry into the UK is allowed. Booster injections for rabies may also be required), issued with an official PETS certificate, official PET passport or 3rd country certificate, treated against ticks and tapeworm no more than 48 hours before check in and issued with an official certificate of treatment.


If travelling from Southampton to New York: all pets must have been issued with a current Health Certificate (the health certificate should show that the dog or cat was examined by a veterinarian within 30 days of entry of the dog or cat into the State of New York) and had a rabies vaccination within 12 months to 14 days prior to Entry into the State of New York.

If your worried about exercise for your pets don't be. Cunard have an outdoor exercise area on board Queen Mary 2, and you are welcome to come and take them for a walk. Sound good! Should do, the only thing you can't do is take them up the Statue of Liberty! Any questions let me know!
